NOW Foods is one of the largest and longest-running independent supplement manufacturers in the United States. Founded in 1968 by Elwood Richard in Bloomingdale, Illinois, the company has remained family- and employee-owned for over five decades — which matters because most of their original-era competitors have been bought out by larger holding companies and now use contract manufacturers.

NOW manufactures the majority of its 1,500+ SKUs in-house at its own ISO/IEC-accredited laboratories. They publish independent quality reports, are NPA A-rated for GMP compliance, and routinely test third-party brands and publish the results (some of which embarrass major competitors). The Council for Responsible Nutrition's monitoring panels frequently cite NOW as a benchmark for cGMP adherence.
